FROM THE OFFICE

On April 6 - 9, the 3rd – 8th and 11th graders will be taking the new state reading test called NeSA Reading. This is the first time Nebraska students will all take the same test to measure their achievement of Nebraska reading standards that are used for state and federal reporting. The test is on the computer, and students have two 90-minute sessions to take the test. The students are tested in the areas of comprehension and vocabulary.
If you are interested in seeing the format of the test, anyone can access the practice test on-line. Each student will practice using the format at school, but can practice at home as well. Just go to https://ne.drcedirect.com, click on software downloads, then again on downloads, and the program will walk you through how to get the practice test on your computer. If you are having trouble, give Mrs. Ziettlow a call and she can help you with it.
The same group of students will also be taking the practice NeSA Math test April 20-23rd. The math test is only a practice test this year, and will be used for state and federal reporting during the 2010-2011 school year. You can look at the math practice test at the same cite as the reading test.
The following school year, 2011-2012 we will have a practice science test using the same format.
If you are interested in looking at standards or other information on the state test, give us a call or check out the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) website!! Good luck kids!

FROM THE CAFETERIA

"Ready, Set, Go"

That's the spirit behind the National School Breakfast Week Theme of 2010:" School Breakfast---Ready, Set, Go!" The theme illustrates that a nutritious school breakfast not only makes a child ready for a day at school, but ready for anything and everything! School breakfast gets children "ready, set, go" to be their best and learn, play, run or dream. Monday is Mighty Muffin Day, Get Up And Go With Granola & Yogurt and Wednesday is Fuel Up With French Toast. We will have a variety of things going on these days so plan to eat breakfast with us....

Lois Kreitman Nutrition Services Manager

A reminder that David Nieves, author and herpetologist, is coming to NBE March 31.  If you are interested in ordering his books, the form was sent home Feb. 10.  Return to Mrs. Hall.
