WELCOME TO THE WEB
SOCS WEBSITE--Welcome to our new SOCS website. For several years, Computer Applications Teacher Chris Gross-Rhode and her students have produced a local website and they did a great job. Thanks, Chris. But, eventually that work took up too much instructional time, so this year we are instituting a commercial website and decided on SOCS, a firm which hosts websites for many of our area schools.
What will you find on our SOCS website? Here are a few items.
**Activity Calendar. While the calendar will continue to be sent in the newsletter (at least through this year), it is out-of-date even before it is published. On the web, you’ll be able to see daily events and the month at a glance.
**Daily Menus. These will no longer be published in the newsletter, but you'll be able to find everyday's updated menu on the web. You can also call NBE or NBC and request a copy from the school secretary.
**Daily Announcements. A PDF file of NBC High School Daily Announcements will be placed on the web each morning.
**NBE Parent Newsletter. Mrs. Ziettlow's weekly NBE Parent Newsletter will also be available.
**Teacher Pages. We are encouraging each teacher to develop his or her own website page with news from class, homework and special projects, etc. Messages from the Principals and the Superintendent will also be available.
**Inclement Weather Announcements. We will still announce via radio and TV and have a telephone message, but we hope that eventually you’ll find it most convenient to get the latest information via the web.
**School Opening/Closings and Special Events. We hope to make it easy for you to access current information on changes in the school schedule.
**School/Parent Groups. We also hope to have special pages for school groups and organizations as well as parent groups such as the Booster Club and Music Boosters.
**Special Announcements. Since the web provides instant communication, it will eventually become our primary vehicle for special announcements.
While our goals for the NBCPS website are ambitious, we recognize that it is a “work in progress” and it will take awhile to get everything up and running. Help us out and let us know what you would like to see on the site. Contact Webmaster Jan Hobza at NBC High School, one of the Principals, or me with your suggestions.
