North Bend Central Public Schools is celebrating another year of academic success and significant progress on district goals tied to the Board of Education’s commitment to “Building Success Together.” On November 26, 2025, the Nebraska Department of Education released the 2024–2025 AQuESTT classifications, and NBC once again earned top marks: Elementary – Excellent, Middle School – Excellent, High School – Great, and District – Excellent. This marks the district’s third consecutive year receiving the highest overall rating.
District performance data also shows students continue to exceed statewide averages in all NSCAS areas, including 85% proficiency in math, 75% in English, and 91% in science. NBC maintains a 97% graduation rate and 96% attendance, with ACT results matching the state composite of 19.2. Teachers average 15 years of experience, and 64% hold master’s degrees.
Alongside academic accomplishments, NBC advanced several key facility and operational priorities. Major projects include the old gym roof replacement, upgrading safety and security systems at the MS/HS building, replacing essential kitchen equipment, and making substantial technology renewals for students and staff. The district also added a new Expedition, 59-passenger bus, and 14-passenger minibus to its transportation fleet and realized more than $30,000 in electricity savings from prior LED lighting upgrades. The district is also completing a new restroom and concession stand building project at Tiger Stadium and we upgraded our sound technology for our fine arts performances, both top priorities from our Community Needs Assessment.
Staff culture initiatives included a certified base salary increase, classified pay structure improvements, improved substitute and bus driver pay, staff recognition efforts, and the addition of new roles to support communications and instructional improvement. NBC also hired a new preschool teacher to accommodate growing PreK enrollment and added two part-time office assistants and an interventionist/teaching coach.
In Career-Based Education, the district secured a $5,000 NBC Foundation grant to reimburse students for industry-aligned certifications (CDL, OSHA, CNA, etc.). The district also remodeled the culinary lab space and classroom for our Family and Consumer Science department. This was due, in part, to the school being awarded a $100,000 grant from the Nebraska Department of Education. Career learning opportunities was another top priority from our Community Needs Assessment.
Maintaining the highest district AQuESTT classification reflects the collective work of students, staff, parents, and the Board of Education. Providing an excellent education for every student remains NBC’s top priority. Parents and patrons are encouraged to thank the staff and students whose consistent dedication makes these achievements possible.
