Photography students took the class period today to evaluate portraiture composition techniques by analyzing the Senior Banners hanging in Tiger Arena, sponsored by the NBC Booster Club. Students used the language of photography in their critiques, choosing good examples of lighting, posing, color theory, background/foreground, texture, and cropping. Their vocabulary work, discussion, and written analysis meets 10/15 Nebraska Fine Arts standards in one lesson!

Science Fun in Mrs. Sterupβs Science Classes! π§ ππ
Our 6th graders took on a tough engineering challenge: build a table strong enough to hold a textbook using only 10 pieces of paper and 20 inches of tape! The tallest and sturdiest tables reached an impressive 11 inches tall!
Meanwhile, our 7th graders turned into marshmallow-launching engineers, using 4 large marshmallows, 20 inches of tape, a spoon, and 7 tongue depressors to build the ultimate launcher. The winning shot? An incredible 8 feet 8 inches, with a close runner-up at 7 feet!
Both activities challenged students to work within constraints while flexing their creativity and problem-solving skills. Way to go, scientists-in-training! π¬
