New heart rate monitor watches help students track their activity and work toward their daily TIZ (Time in Zone) goal. Each class, students aim to spend a set number of minutes in Heart Rate Zone 2—a level of moderate aerobic activity.
During their volleyball unit, that means keeping moving between serves, adding jumping jacks, and finding ways to stay active throughout the game! 💪🧡🖤

Have a toy, antique, or other item you’d like checked for lead-based paint? Bring it along for free testing.
Flu shots and other immunizations will also be available. They may be covered by insurance or offered on a sliding fee scale, depending on insurance status.
Families can enjoy a bounce house, coloring pages, and pizza, plus a chance to win gift cards for local family activities.

🌱 Growing curiosity at the NBC Greenhouse! 🌸
Mrs. Wemhoff and Mrs. Ortmeier's 1st grade classes visited the high school, where Mr. Mottl’s ag students led them on a greenhouse tour! They explored the aquaponics system, learned about plants, heard a story about a pumpkin, and planted their own lettuce seeds.
A little dirt, lots of learning, and plenty of smiles! Thank you to Mr. Mottl and his students for a fun experience for our little Tigers! 🐯

Students in Ms. Ray’s Exploration 8 class are bringing their ideas to life, one frame at a time! For their first stop motion project in the Animation unit, students are working in pairs to create a 20-second movie. Creativity, teamwork, and a little patience are all part of the process!
A big shout-out to the STEAM Club and Mrs. Miller for sharing their iPads and helping make the movie magic happen! 🐯

NBC alumna Hallie Mottl returned today to share information about the Kearney Health Opportunities Program (KHOP) at UNK! This program helps rural Nebraska students pursue careers in healthcare through full-tuition scholarships at UNK and a pathway to further education at UNMC.
Similar opportunities are available through the Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP) at Wayne State, Chadron State and Peru State colleges!

Throwing it back to 2013 and a groundbreaking moment in NBC history—literally! Members of the district gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony following the passage of a $7 million bond issue that brought major improvements to both the high school and elementary school.
Projects included a new high school science wing, competition gym and locker rooms, renovations to existing locker rooms, an expanded weight room, new office area and teachers’ lounge, plus HVAC improvements. At the elementary school, additions included a new multipurpose facility and teachers’ room.
Pictured at the groundbreaking are Board of Education members Jeff Peters, Jeff Bauer, Gary Vyhlidal, Dan Wesely, and Dan Mensik, along with Superintendent Dan Endorf and Principals Brenda Petersen and Caryn Ziettlow.
